What you'll do
Floor loom weaving has something for everyone! Aimed at beginners, this rug weaving class is engaging, mindful and fun. Combining mental and physical activity, you will weave a unique rug and leave amazed at what you can achieve in just one day.
We’re big on sustainability so you’ll weave with upcycled materials and factory offcuts, available in a rich range of colours.
Experienced teachers will guide you through the basics of rug weaving and our small class sizes ensure you receive individual attention. You’ll pre-select your design and colours, and get an instructional video for finishing the rug ends at home.
Floor loom weaving offers an ideal opportunity to unplug from the digital world and enjoy a hands-on, slowcraft experience. Ideal for couples, friends, birthday parties, or a solo adventure.
By the end, you’ll be inspired to upcycle your own textiles and return for bigger and bolder projects.
Note: This class is also available split over two consecutive evenings.

Established as a creative response to the huge environmental problem of textile waste, ExMateria is a modern, sustainable, Scandi-industrial weaving studio, where we teach people to weave rugs on Nordic floor looms using upcycled/unwanted textiles.
Combining backgrounds in education and events, we offer Sydneysiders a unique opportunity to unplug and transform unwanted textiles into new items.
