The course provides a comprehensive introduction to the art and craft of woodworking, with a focus on safety, essential tools, and basic skills.
What you will learn:
- Safety First: Understanding and implementing woodworking safety protocols, including proper tool usage, protective gear and workshop organisation.
- Tools of the Trade: Introducing students to the essential hand and power tools used in woodworking, their functions and maintenance.
- Wood Selection: Exploring different types of wood, their characteristics and how to select the appropriate wood for various projects.
- Measuring and Marking: Developing precision in measuring, marking and layout techniques, which are essential for accurate and professional woodworking.

- Students wishing to bring their own PPE should come with a face mask, safety glasses or goggles and earmuffs or earplugs.
- Closed shoes are a mandatory requirement for all students.
- Those with their own tools relevant to the class should bring them along to get better accustomed to using them, but we also supply all tools if you don't have any.
- We have a kitchen on-site with a fridge and microwave for those who want to bring their own food, and there are also takeaway options within walking distance.
This class series runs over 8 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
