  • 5/5 from Loretta Pham, attended Jul 2026: I came on my own to learn how to make macarons and was a little nervous, especially since it was my first time baking anything from scratch. I left feeling so proud after successfully making a batch of beautiful unicorn macarons—and I had so much fun throughout the class! Carlos was an incredible teacher. He struck the perfect balance between guiding us when we needed help and letting us do things ourselves, so we could genuinely feel a sense of accomplishment. His instructions were clear, encouraging, and easy to follow, which made the whole experience enjoyable and stress-free. Thank you so much for such a fantastic class! I can't wait to make more macarons at home for my daughter's upcoming first birthday. I highly recommend this class to anyone wanting to learn, whether you're a complete beginner or just looking for a fun experience!

  • 5/5 from Christin Anggrahini, attended Jan 2026: Carlos was very friendly and genuinely cared about us learning the art of making macaron. His explanation was clear and easy to follow. He gave tips on how to achieve consistency when making macaron. A great and fun class.
  • 4/5 from Chris Carattini, attended Dec 2022: The teacher was friendly, clear, confident and competent. Demonstrated easy to follow steps well. After the demonstration, it was easy to build our own macaron by giving us some pre-made ingredients. Sometimes it was hard to hear the teacher because the room was very noisy. I also wish there had been an option to make vegan macarons.

Sydney's Best Macaron Makers!

4.8 (53)

Established in April 2010, MakMak Macarons is one of Sydney's leading macaron makers. MakMak's macarons were declared Sydney's best, ahead of heavyweights like Adriano Zumbo and Laduree, in a blind tasting by esteemed Sydney chefs Christine Manfield (Universal), Peter Gilmore (Quay) and Ross Lusted (The Bridge Room). All three voted MakMak as their most preferred.
MakMak’s handmade macarons are distinguished by their unique texture and flavour as well as a commitment to sourcing the highest quality ingredients including Callebaut chocolate, Maldon Sea Salt and Bombay Sapphire gin. MakMak uses seasonal fresh fruits and native Australian ingredients including lemon myrtle and strawberry gum.
Carlos, the 'Mak Daddy', of MakMak, can't wait to meet you at one of their next workshops.
