In this hands-on 60-minute team experience, participants will be guided in preparing a nourishing matcha green tea and exploring mindfulness - a powerful combination for creating calm focus. We come to you with all of the tea and teaware required.
The session will offer instruction on using traditional tools & preparation methods, as well as modern approaches to making matcha. The team will also learn why matcha is a unique tea through its specific cultivation and production methods, what to look for in high-quality matcha, health benefits, and how to care for tea and teaware. Everyone will walk away with the knowledge and skills required to create their tea room experience, wherever they are.
Your Host:
Kelsey is a Chado/The Japanese Art of Tea Practitioner (Urasenke), a registered Yoga and Meditation Teacher (Yoga Australia and Meditation Association of Australia), and a Chartered Accountant (CAANZ), who is passionate about sharing tools that help people find calm focus.
Beginning with language and culture studies, Kelsey has been making connections with Japan for nearly two decades. In 2019, she stepped out of the corporate scene in her native Australia and moved to Kyoto. Trading the West(ern Australia) for the East, she sought to refresh body and mind.
Refreshment was found in a bowl of matcha green tea. A number of serendipities led her to Chado: a new friend, a library book, an accidental visit to a tea shop, and meeting a sensei/teacher. She commenced study, and tea became a way of life.
Through the practise of tea and mindfulness and with a desire to help others thrive, Sakucha bloomed. Kelsey brought this unique workshop combining matcha and mindfulness to Sydney in 2021 and has proudly served teams at Canva, doq, d.doq, Nichigo Press, Simple Machines, blackbook ai, and more.
Testimonial:
"Kelsey ran a virtual workshop for all members at our group of companies, including doq, d.doq, and Nichigo Press during the COVID lockdown in Sydney. It was one of the best workshops I have ever attended for mental wellbeing, cultural experiences, and self-discovery. I received enormous positive feedback from all employees and would confidently recommend a Sakucha workshop for anyone looking for a unique experience and mental wellness refresh after a stressful period."
— Yoshinori Sakuno, Group Managing Director
