What you'll do

Looking for unique art classes for adults in Sydney? Come and learn how to create your own intuitive mixed media masterpieces with artist Ally Jade!

In this beginner-friendly class, you will learn the basics of the mixed media artistic process and have a go at your own mixed media artwork. You can utilise collage, painting, watercolour and applique to create intuitive art.

During the two-hour class, you will get in touch with your inner freedom of expression, let go of limitations, rules, traditional artistic practices and learn how to create art from the heart.

For those wishing to learn a little about portraiture, your experienced teacher can show how a portrait is more than just a 'copy, paste' process. A portrait has elements of your own story, and the sitter's story, and how your emotions can directly influence the outcome of the artwork.

You do not need any prior art experience to attend. These classes are taught at Ally's home in Pyrmont, and COVID-Safe distancing procedures will be enforced. Classes are kept to two people to ensure you receive lots of individual attention.

Please note: There is a small hypo-allergenic dog at the venue, so please advise the teacher if you have any pet phobias!

My name is Ally Jade and I am an established mixed media artist, living in Sydney's vibrant Inner West.

I teach art part-time at a high school, and I have had several exhibitions, including at State Parliament House. My style could be described as portraiture with a street art influence. I love to incorporate poetry and words into the artwork, to create a multilayered story.

I have a unique, self-developed style and a strong focus on helping students connect to their inner creativity and self-expression. I believe we are all innately creative, and we all have an artist within.

My students have a lot of fun, creating using mixed media materials, paint, collage and can also learn how to create their own cradled wood panels, which can be a great alternative to mounted canvas.
