Queer Zine Making Workshop

All of the materials needed to create a small personal zine!

3 hours Class size 1 to 20 guests       $15

Interested in zine making? A seasoned zinester who wants to meet some new people and connect to community through making? This is for you.
Guided by zine maker and researcher Corey Lange, you will be provided with some prompts to help you kickstart some zine making; asking you to make a zine from a specific material, using a particular technique or surrounding a particular idea or theme. From there, you've got the freedom to interpret this prompt however you want, at your own pace, making your very own zine!
You do not need to have any experience. If you do have experience, you are welcome to put that to use in the workshop.
This workshop is focused on creating a space to make and connect to queer community. In this context, the definition of ‘Queer’ has been pulled from American trans, queer and feminist academic and author Jack Halberstam who posits queer as “non-normative logics and organisations of community, sexual identity, embodiment, and activity in space and time”. If you align with this definition you are welcome.
Workshop is suitable for ages 16+
About the Facilitator
Corey is a queer, non-binary artist and designer creating on Gadigal Land. They work mostly in print media and zine making. Alongside their art and design practise, they are passionate about running workshops in zine making, an interest they are currently exploring through a PhD program at UTS.
