Am I Creative ~ a Class for Curious Beginners

Explore in a relaxed class where it's quite ok to be perfectly imperfect!

2 hours Class size 1 to 12 (public dates), 2 to 50   $24 - $48 ($48 per guest when you book for 1 guest, $24/guest for 2+ guests)

In this short online introduction, you’ll meet each other in a warm and welcoming space, online in your own home, and discover that creativity is available to you at any age or ability. In the Am I Creative? beginner's workshop, you’ll learn how to access your own unique inner artist, dispel some myths about creativity and enjoy an easy drawing and/or writing process inspired by your intentions and goals for the session. You’ll make your own creative drawings and/or written pieces while exploring the natural joy of play, experimenting and discovery.
If you are a curious beginner, even if you think or believe you are not creative at all, you are very welcome. This workshop is suitable for you no matter what your ability and no matter how long ago it was that you last held a crayon. You don’t need any previous experience, and there is no right or wrong way to take part. Come as you are: straight after work, in pyjamas, with messy hair, dressed to the nines - come exactly as you feel the most comfortable and beautiful.
You’ll be guided through a gentle, supportive process that begins with relaxation, awareness and inner contemplation. You’ll be invited to explore intentional breathing and gentle stretches to warm up, and even dance a little, or a lot, depending on your energy level on the day. You’ll then move into a simple creative activity using materials you already have at home, such as paper, a pen, pencil, coloured pencils or other drawing and writing materials.
You’ll be held through the process and encouraged to bring all of yourself: brave, raw, tender, excited and fully expecting to spend some quality time in connection with a group of kindred others. You may feel relaxed, playful, inspired or surprised by what naturally emerges. This is a welcoming space for creative discovery, without pressure to perform or produce something perfect.
As an Holistic Kinesiologist and Spiritual Mentor (Anam Chara), Megan brings a wealth of experience to her spaces. Once she re-discovered and began to embody her own childhood multi-passionate zest for Art, Science and Creative Expression, she developed a deep passion for talking about the art and science of creative expression and how you too may rekindle your own unique creative spark.
You may find you are inspired by many forms of creative expression, including:
  • Writing and drawing
  • Singing, music and dance
  • Maths, environment, symbology
  • Collage and clay
  • Music and cooking
  • Sound and brain waves
  • Intricate and detailed sacred geometry
  • The hidden symbology in ancient architecture
  • Blending and merging art forms to create something brand new
No matter what flavour your authentic creative flow comes in, you’ll be encouraged, guided and supported. You may experience being celebrated for your wins and held in a space of acceptance, allowing and a grounded, practical understanding of the growing pains that learning, or re-learning, any new creative endeavour may bring.
This experience can help you remember that creativity is not something reserved for a select few - it is a natural part of you. You’ll leave with a renewed sense of possibility, a creative practice you can return to, and a deeper connection with your own authentic creative freedom.

FAQ

I have never meditated before, can I join this class?
Yes, this is a perfect class for you if you are new to meditation, if you ready to gift yourself some uninterrupted quiet time, and will be happy simply giving it a go.
I don't think I am very creative at all, is this class for me?
We think so. If you are at all curious about what creativity might look like for you and are willing to be courageous enough to try out new things and make messy art, then Yes, you are in the right place!
I can't sit still and get distracted at lot. Can I still come to this class?
It's up to you. But yes, you are more than welcome. Practicing bringing your focus and awareness back to the page and back to your breath in meditation can be powerfully beneficial for busy, distracted and overwhelmed minds.

I want to come to this class, but I don't want to share or talk in the group. Can I still come?
We value the sharing aspect of creative groups, and we also value individual autonomy and choice, so, you will never be expected to share, or participate in any exercise you don't feel is right for you. We trust you to know and honour your own capacity. We will, however, ask that you be able and willing to respectfully witness and listen when other classmates find it beneficial to share.

Megan Williams

female Women-owned

I've always had a passion for all kinds of craft and creativity and after working a corporate 9-5 and after recovering from severe overwhelming burnout on more than one occasion, have spent the past 20 years perfecting the art of feeling good and following my bliss! As a multi-passionate creative, spiritual healer and facilitator of Sacred Ceremony, I love weaving a good yarn; you will find that storytelling, mythology, alchemical transformation and the mystery school arts are at the core, the beating heart, of all of Meg's creative workshops.
