In need of fun indoor activities? In this live streaming class, you will make a clay hanging planter of your choice! Based on the photos of my planters shown here, you will create a little clay hanger with beautiful textures and colours.

You will learn how to build a pot, how to paint clay while it is still fresh, and how to play with textures and shapes. Then we will make some beads to decorate and to help us hang the planter.

You will decide how you want to hang it, learn how to make the holes and how to weave a little macrame hanger. You'll also learn how to make drainage holes if needed.

Lastly, you will learn how to preserve your hanging planter to make it long-lasting so that you can plant a succulent in it ( or any other plant of your choice).

Craft box is filled with goodies that you get to keep for your next project too. It is always a good idea to get in touch and advise your teacher what is your shape/texture/colour preference prior to craft box shipping. This is a complex class and we can customise it to you.

On booking, you can choose between air drying clay or natural clay.

Air drying clay: Air drying clay's advantage is that no firing is necessary and you get to see the final result straight away. It gets quite solid and can hold fruits and knick knacks. Disadvantage is that it will never be as sturdy and resilient as kiln fired clay and also can not be glazed, but acrylic painted. Can be water-resistant if sealed with a commercial water sealant. That means that you can use it to plant the plant into it only if you cover it with a waterproof varnish. Not suitable for functional ware.

*All of the planters shown are made out of natural clay, double-fired and glazed.

Both options are wonderful and creative endlessly fun projects and I promise you won't be disappointed whichever you choose!

Please note: This class does not include soil and plants.

Express shipping included in price.

Add-on available for this class

Hi, I'm Irina.

I like to introduce myself as a sculptor, although I'm engaged in different art disciplines too. I have never had another profession, nor have I wanted one. I fell in love with three-dimensional art at a very early age which came to me naturally, as I was born in a family of artists. It was the world I've grown up in, a measure of value around me.

I have graduated from Fine Arts, majoring in Sculpture, and with a bit of luck, I had a chance to work internationally and gain great experience in different industries and media. Cooperating with professionals from other creative fields has perfectioned my skills and broadened the views of my artistic expression.

I have tried to gather all the projects I am engaged in on this website, showcase it, sell and teach my art. Always open for the new projects with fellow creatives, just get in touch.

I loved this class. I am really happy with what I've created and can't wait to make more planters. I liked how Irina taught a variety of techniques so we could choose what we wanted our finished planter to look like.

Irina hosted our Mum's virtual birthday party with a private DIY Clay Hanging Planter.

Whilst it was online, we felt as though the class ran really smoothly and had a great experience.

Irina was patient with us and took the time to explain each step.
