Easy Christmas Party Activities for Large Groups

Easy Christmas Party Activities for Large Groups

By Erica Genda

It’s that time of year when we start thinking about Christmas activities to celebrate with our nearest and dearest! And if you’ve got a large group on your hands, be it a team of colleagues or a big family, it can be overwhelming to organise Christmas party activities for such a large group. From finding a venue to calling around and checking everyone's availability, it can all take a bit of time and a lot of effort. But don’t worry, you won’t have to do any of that this year, because we’ve got you sorted.

A crafty experience workshop is perfect, not just because it’s a whole lot of fun, but because it’s easy to plan. All you have to do is browse through some unique options, find your favourite and lock it in with a few simple clicks.

Group craft workshop for Christmas party

Explore everything from textiles to pottery, painting to planting, and cooking up a storm! Today, we’ll look at some Christmas activities for large groups that’ll bring the festive vibes whilst being as simple as possible for you to book.

How easy is it to book, really?

Before we dive into the wonderful activities that’ll bring you and your people some Christmas cheer—we’re here to assure you how simple it really is to book in your Christmas party this year through ClassBento.

You’ll have two options: book a private class or request a private class

What’s the difference, and how do you lock something in? Let’s take a look.

1. Booking a private class

Booking a private class locks you into your chosen date instantly. This means a teacher has already set their availability and is free for your selected date. When you’ve found the Christmas party activity you’d like, the next step is to confirm numbers and a suitable date with your group. Then all you have to do is:

  1. Select your date from the available calendar days
  2. Select an available time
  3. Input details such as the number of guests or any questions you may have
  4. Pay and book on the same page

That’s less than 5 steps!

2. Requesting a private class

Requesting a private class means a teacher accepts private bookings, but you can’t always see their availability. There is usually an indication in the ‘Request a Private Class’ section that will tell you how frequently and quickly the teacher accepts requests, but be mindful there may be some alterations to your ideal date and time based on the teacher's availability. Once you’ve got your final guest list and preferred dates chosen, you can:

  1. Click ‘Request’
  2. Input your preferred time and date (you can add a few options here!)
  3. Input your number of guests
  4. Send the request
  5. The teacher will get back to you to confirm and lock in the booking with a payment link

Most times, the teacher will accept your request, but there may be some brief back and forth to find the best time for everyone.

Both options are quick and easy ways to organise a large outing.

Just remember, booking a private class will mean you’re instantly sorted, but there may be some sessions that don’t have the availability you’d like. Requesting a private class gives you more options, but it may mean you have to be flexible with your dates and wait to lock everything in.

Now that the stress of booking a fabulous Christmas activity for a whole lot of people has been taken off your plate, let’s browse some of those party options!

Get into the Christmas spirit with wreath making

women at a wreath making christmas workshop

Does anything scream ‘Christmas is coming’ more than driving around and seeing lush wreaths on everyone’s door? Grab your team or family and head over to Happy Hub Collective in Perth, where you’ll make your own Christmas wreaths.

How many can this class accommodate? Up to 100 guests.

What you and your group can expect: An experienced instructor will guide everyone through the process of crafting a beautiful Christmas wreath using an assortment of native foliage and decorative elements. You’ll get to make something special that celebrates the season, as well as pay homage to the Australian landscape.

Expect a hands-on, full-of-life session with a lot of laughs, chatter and a lovely memento for everyone to take home.

Get into the celebratory spirit with cocktail making

Cocktail christmas party celebration

If you want a bit more of a classic Christmas party vibe, head to Potts Point, Sydney and discover Honkas Bar + Eats, who host this fab cocktail making class with a feast!

How many can this class accommodate? 8 to 50 people for private events.

What you and your group can expect: Start the party with a 45-minute cocktail making class where you and the group will learn some of the best mixology tips from the barman. Everyone will have a hand in making their own delicious cocktails, and of course, they’ll get to drink them, too! Once you’ve completed the cocktail class, you’ll all be seated to enjoy a feast with food from all around the world.

This is the kind of experience that’s just interactive enough to have everyone bonding as much as indulging in a well-earned end-of-year celebration—everyone will leave with full bellies and a full heart.

“The whole experience was so much fun. The cocktails were amazing, and the food was just as good, which made it even better as part of a group event. Everything felt really relaxed and easygoing, so we could just enjoy ourselves, have a laugh, and still learn a few things along the way. ” - Hollie S.

Have a blast painting in the dark

Paint and Sip in the Dark Party

Need that perfect combination of party and crafty vibes? This paint and sip in the dark in Melbourne will be right up your alley.

How many can this class accommodate? 20 to 45 guests for private bookings.

What you and your group can expect: Get everyone bopping to some retro disco beats as you all sip on a cheeky drink, pick up a brush, and light up the night. Everyone will be dazzled by neon paints and UV lights—and don’t worry—no artistic experience is needed whatsoever; this is beginner-friendly and all about the fun interaction. Maybe you can request a Christmas-themed painting!

Make some ceramic Christmas decorations together

If you’re looking for a relaxing indoor activity that is a little different, but just as fun, head to this hand-building workshop in Newcastle where you’ll make a miniature ceramic house—the perfect Christmas decoration!

How many can this class accommodate? 10 to 30 guests.

What you and your group can expect: Spend the afternoon together in a cosy space being expertly guided to create your little house with clay! Make sure to book this one a little earlier than usual as your creations will need a couple of weeks to be bisque-and-glaze-fired. Perhaps organise this Christmas activity for your group a few weeks before break, then pick up your little houses together and go for a celebratory lunch nearby! The Cook-a-barra Restaurant isn’t too far from the Tinker Farm studio.

Bring magic to life with a terrarium

Terrarium making class

Invite your group to make their own magical world in this terrarium workshop in Cloverdale, Perth.

How many can this class accommodate? 8 to 30 guests.

What you and your group can expect: Everyone joining your party will get their hands dirty creating a large glass bowl full of dirt, moss, plants and decorative touches that’ll make each terrarium unique. Get in touch with some nature and enjoy a day chatting each other’s ears off as you bring whimsy to life. Everyone can take their terrarium home and use it as an additional Christmas decoration—or better yet, a mini fairy garden for Elf on the Shelf to visit!

For groups larger than 8, you can organise for this teacher, Anita, to come to you, as Alex H. did:

“The team had an absolute blast and enjoyed the chance to disconnect from the day-to-day and get a bit more creative. We found Anita very personable and friendly, taking the time to walk us through how to build a great terrarium.”

Planning Christmas activities for large groups doesn’t have to be as daunting as it sounds—it can be as simple as browsing ClassBento and finding the best-suited class for your people. Then, in less than five clicks, your end-of-year celebrations will be sorted!
