What you'll do
Looking for unique Canberra activities to spruce up your home decor? Create your own bespoke lampshade with Juanita Flett at this hands-on workshop - it's easier than you think!
Turn your drum shade into a ceiling light, bedside table shade or floor lamp shade. Your teacher will provide the kits for this class (including a 30cm diameter frameset).
You will just need to bring your choice of fabric for your own unique lampshade to match it to your space. Fabric requirements are half a metre of 100 per cent cotton fabric (stretch fabric is not suitable).
At the end of this fun, interactive class, you'll have your very own bespoke lampshade to display in your home and the confidence to continue creating with textiles!

Knowledge required
No experience or previous knowledge is necessary. Suitable for children 8+years and adults of all ages.*Parents are not required to stay for the children's lesson, however are more than welcome to.
What you'll get
30cm round drum shade kit, each kit includes the following:- A pre-cut length of PVC backing
- Two lampshade rings with adapter for Australian light bulb size
- A roll of double-sided tape
- Finishing tool to help neaten and tuck in raw edges
- Instructions, including images
Afternoon/morning tea will be provided - please advise of any allergies at the time of booking.
What to bring
Half a metre of your chosen fabric. 100 per cent cotton is best - stretch fabric is not suitable for beginners.
Suitable for
This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a birthday or hens party.
Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 8 years old).
Adult accompaniment is not required.

I am a Mum with a love of sewing I have a background in retail business management and the arts. I have experience in textiles and Interior design along with working as a commissioned seamstress for almost 10 years.
I have a passion for creativity and enjoy sharing that with people, particularly children.
​I have started Made By You Canberra in the hope of inspiring both children and beginner adults to share in the joy of creating handmade items for themselves and to make bespoke gifts for others.
