What you'll do
Are you ready to take your calligraphy to the next level? Flourishing is an elegant way to enhance your letterforms but it can be a bit overwhelming at the beginning with no instructions. However, once you break it down and learn a few rules, it's much easier than you think.
This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those who want to refine their existing skills. Basic Copperplate minuscules and majuscules (uppercase and lowercase) knowledge is required as we will not be covering the basics of pointed pen calligraphy.
During the live online class, you will learn:
- The hidden rules of flourishing.
- Understanding the relationship between lines and spacing.
- Minuscule (Lowercase) letter flourishing.
- Majuscule (Uppercase) letter flourishing.
- Various options for flourishing each letter form from basic to highly decorated.
- How to apply flourishing in whole words/short phrases.
The Zoom session will be recorded for those who are unable to watch live. Links for the videos will be sent to you after class has ended and expire in two weeks.
A PDF handout will be sent to your registered email address two to three days prior to the class. The class Zoom link will also be included in the email.
Knowledge required
Basic Copperplate lowercase and uppercase knowledge is required.

My name is Cyrus, I am a full-time calligrapher and the store owner of Not Just A Card, a calligraphy specialty shop in Melbourne. I have been teaching and selling calligraphy materials online since 2016 and recently opened a brick and mortar shop in April 2019 here in Melbourne. I graduated from RMIT University with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Design and later completed a master's degree in Visual Communication at Monash University.
