The break of up a decade term relationship and subsequent bouts of loneliness have led me - Sydney’s former Sausage Queen, Chrissy Flanagan - to solve others’ desire to make adult friends, as well as my own.
It’s often said Sydney is a particularly tricky place to make friends as an adult. If you miss out on doing any of the big four locally or at all - high school, uni, work, kids - it’s hard to bridge the gap, leaving many of us lonelier than we would like.
And yet, as adults we’re embarrassed or too self conscious to use modern tools such as friend networking apps to solve this problem.
Chaotic Social, is seeking to bridge that gap, in the form of classes and events, where you’re encouraged to roll solo and go home with a few new mates in your phone.

The Chaotic Social runs fabulously unique fun quirky classes for all sorts of interests including sausage making, ‘Bitch and Stitch’ ‘Chaotic Choir’ and so much more. I went to a class in making alterations and adjustments to thrift clothes. Run by the fabulous founder, owner and all time awesome Chrissy Flannagan @chaoticsocialite. Who made sewing … a funny interesting, exciting enticing rule breaking experience. for me. I never thought I would sew, but Chrissy teaches many tricks and short cuts and unconventional ways to overcome blocks and boredom plus makes the experience fun even when you’re doing boring stuff … congratulations Chrissy on creating a glorious orange safe space for life’s fringe dwellers and those of us who just enjoy being around orange dogs and spaces. Bobbin the adorable pooch was another highlight for me. I learned so much and managed to adjust two garments in a couple of hours following Chrissy kindly advice and hands on help. Thanks @chaoticsocial for a rule breaking, clothes changing experience. Can’t wait till the next Chaotic Social experience. #ClassBentocreations.

Such a good time! Chrissy is a fantastic host, and provides a great blend of insider information and banter. I like that we were given the basics of sausage-making and also got to customise our sausages with the choice of spices. I would definitely recommend to my family and friends!

Thank you Chrissy for the inspiring day. I loved how you encouraged everyone to open up and talk about their goals for 2024. It was a beautiful vibe with no judgement. I wish it went a little longer as I didn't get to finish my board. Probably cause I chatted too much! Chrissy thank you for creating this awesome community space. Can't wait to come back for my chaotic fun. And thanks for the beers, that wasn't expected!

It was a really good show, however it finished so quickly!
I understand its a new choir and the repertoir isn't huge, however $15 for less than half hour show is a bit steep.
Venue was fun but very warm with us all crowded in! Advice to bring personal fans in the next email. Or give out icy poles and a beer on entry!
Great first show though, well done, we enjoyed it :)

What a wonderful way to experience life drawing for the first time! Sasha and Tess created such a safe and inclusive space for us to hone our craft. Each participant came with a different level of skill and creative vision but Sasha and Tess made us all feel included and valid throughout the evening. I loved being able to share in everyone’s progress throughout the night and share what we loved most about our pieces. Highly recommend no matter your artistic experience!
I brought along my own materials but really appreciated the opportunity to try out other mediums, and starting off the class with some basics on shapes, curves and shading really helped me get into the groove and build some confidence.
10/10 would do again, even if only to listen to the bangin’ playlist.

We had the most amazing time making some sausages with Chrissy and Poppy! She was loads of fun and passed on some great tips and ideas and the instructions provided were easy to follow and the class vibe was so fun and friendly. The drinks supplied were delicious and the snags were amazing! Would highly recommend for anyone to do. My partner was actually thinking that his footy punters trip away would love to do it as well!

This was such a perfect event, I would attend again in a heartbeat!
The format was great, and so easy - just a group of like-minded people with similar interests coming together to work on projects and talk shit! The time flew by and I really didn’t want it to end
I thought Chrissy set up the event super well, and tailored it for the group- introductions were a great and simple conversation starter, it all felt really comfortable and low stakes and the group was lovely. Not surprising that a bunch of fibre artists have a ton to talk and gripe about together but I was so pleased at how easy it was to connect with everyone, regardless of their chosen craft.
I really hope that this becomes a regular event, I am prepared to adjust my whole work schedule to make sure I can attend again!

Claire provided great practical suggestions on how to approach the portraits plus some awesome inspiration from her own artworks. Knew exactly what to suggest to bring things back on track when we weren’t sure it was going to come together. We’re thrilled with our creations!

I had a great time during the crochet class! The teacher Karrie was very patient and took her time working everyone through each crochet step.
The banter between Karrie, guests and Chrissy was hilarious and encouraging (especially during the learning curve of single and double crochets!)
We all received a crochet hook and an entire roll of t-shirt yarn to take home to work on our bathmats.
My favourite thing about the class was meeting new people, learning a new skill and celebrating when people had accomplished a new stitch or row!

It was a really fun night, I learned some new things but it didn't feel like any pressure.
Our teacher was great - and my earrings look amazing.

Kasia the teacher was amazing and made the process really easy to understand and do
Chrissy who runs the venue was also absolutely lovely and has created a such a welcoming safe space giving adults license and safety to be silly and meet others.
We watched everyone’s claymation films at the end and the whole class was belly laughing by the end of it.

A fabulously fun and energetic night learning the skills of Conga. The scene was set with the vibrant orange walls and retro furnishings of Chaotic Social with host Chrissie and "pro instructors" Jess and Seb expertly teaching us the art of this traditional Uruguayan card game. Most of the participants (including myself) hadn't even head of the game but by the end of the night we all walked away with a newly acquired knowledge under our belts. Nibbles and the offer of a glass of wine / water on arrival made it a totally affordable night out. Thoroughly recommend it

This was my first chaotic social class and I couldn’t have picked a better entry into this wonderful orange world. Chrissy is an affable host who made everyone feel welcome and Kris was such a warm and skilled teacher who made us all feel like we could easily conquer the art of ~feminine~ floral arrangement. The end product was beautiful and I’m so happy to have a little piece of chaotic social at home. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to try out a new skill or spend the evening with fun and lighthearted folk.

The space is chaotic and moody, the vibe is a party. I enjoyed a sample of 3 different classes from still life drawing, sexy cupcake making and speed mating. All 3 I could see myself attending. Great facilitators, and a fun time. Met some fantastic people! I 100% will gift a class here to people and attend some myself.
