Hand Building Pottery Class

Get into the Christmas in July spirit with a hand building pottery class in Gympie!

6 hours Class size 6 to 8     label $195
It’s Christmas time! Well, not really, but who doesn’t love a bit of cheerfulness during the colder months of the year?
Join Leona the potty potter in this one-day workshop in Gympie as we explore the magic and wonder of making our very own Christmas ornaments with clay.
Class overview:
  • Learn how to prepare clay for handbuilding
  • Use an extruder
  • Carve designs in clay
  • Stamp designs in clay
  • Use coils and slabs to build clay objects
  • Learn how to attach clay pieces
  • Learn how to apply underglaze to raw clay
  • Gain some knowledge about firing our finished objects
After firing and glazing, you can take home your new ceramic pieces to decorate your living space!
When to pick up your item:
Depending on the weather and thickness of each piece, we hope to have them returned within four to six weeks, perhaps sooner. We will make contact when they are ready for collection.
Clay and the processes it goes through, drying and firing, can be temperamental. That is one of the wonders of working with such a medium. While we do take every precaution to treat your precious items with the care they deserve, sometimes clay has a mind of its own and it will crack during the drying or firing process. While this is disheartening, the magic of clay is that you can always start again. If this does happen to your piece, we will work with you to ensure you don’t leave empty-handed.
