1. Coffee making is only for experienced baristas

Barista pro

False! No matter if you’re a complete beginner or have a Breville machine at home, barista courses in Adelaide welcome everyone to learn coffee making and absolutely love it. A barista pro will guide you through the process and can help answer any questions along the way. Our Adelaide activities are both beginner-friendly and a casual activity to get your hands on. Perfect for team building activities or experience gifts for Dad, bring your loved ones along for a day of bonding, laughter and of course, fabulous coffee!

2. Pouring a cappuccino or latte isn’t all that similar

Barista classes

Usually, the common belief is that depending if you want to make a cappuccino or a latte, it would require you to pour more or less foam on top. However, the differences between the two drinks actually hinge on their milk compositions. At barista courses in Adelaide, your local barista will show you how to steam and ‘stretch’ the milk for a latte, while for a cappuccino, the milk is more aerated and makes defined layers to your coffee.

3. Coffee is bad for your health

Coffee classes

It may surprise you but drinking your morning brew does have a lot of health benefits! According to a Havard study, drinking the right amount of coffee can help you increase your energy levels and aid concentration. Coffee has also been proven to lower the risk of heart disease and stroke as well. So you can feel relaxed when you reach for your cup of coffee each day!

4. You need boiling water to brew your coffee

Coffee making

Incorrect! Boiling water is definitely not the best option for creating a delicious cup of coffee. Instead, when you come to our coffee classes in Adelaide, your baristas will recommend using water that is 90.5°C to 96.1°C as this will help your grounds to extract the right amount of flavour and aroma.

5. You need fancy equipment to make your coffee

Barista classes

Not at all! All you need is a kettle, your favourite mug, some beans or ground coffee and a coffee filter. Put the coffee into your filter, slowly pour hot water over the coffee in a circular motion and let it steep for about four minutes. That’s all it takes for you to make a delicious cup of coffee every morning.

6. You should drink coffee first thing in the morning

Coffee

The first thing you might do when you wake up is to drink your morning brew but studies have shown that it is best to wait three hours or so before you settle in for your coffee. This is because your cortisol (stress hormone) is at its peak when you wake up and so when you wait, you can get the ideal energy kick from your daily caffeine hit.

7. Coffee prevents you from sleeping

Coffee

It’s true that caffeine can help you stay awake, however, it does not necessarily mean that drinking coffee will keep you up all night. Caffeine has a half-life of about five hours, so if you drink your coffee way before bedtime, it should well have left your system by then.

8. Drinking coffee has less health benefits than drinking tea

Coffee classes

For years coffee and tea have gone head to head, as sippers from both sides debate which beverage is better for you. Yes, it’s true that coffee has more caffeine than tea but according to a Washington article, they have shown that coffee has more health benefits when it comes to fibre, gut health and lowering the risk of diabetes. That’s a win for coffee!

9. The perfect cup of coffee doesn’t exist

Coffee classes

Practice makes perfect and that’s completely true when it comes to coffee. As both a science and an art form, coffee making requires plenty of precision and art. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get your perfect cup of coffee. Choose your favourite coffee beans, grind, tamp and extract the beans, steam milk and voila! Happiness in a cup.
