What you'll do
Take a creative escape from the real world and come and build your own Mondrian clock in Melbourne.
Your teacher, Jenie will only be running this workshop in autumn and winter of 2024 so get in while you can! In spring we start our festive workshops. The only thing required is being able to consistently cut strips of glass about 1cm wide, by completing one of our beginner classes.
This four hour workshop gives you time to brush up on your cutting skills and have some fun building this amazing Mondrian inspired wall clock.
This design is 38cm x 38cm if you want to make a different size or shape please let your teacher know. The price will be altered accordingly. Sometimes people make a completely different design of their own choosing. See the pictures here. Maybe you'll make a big wall piece that you decide won't be a clock. That's ok of course.
If it takes you more than four hours to make this – don’t worry! We’ll schedule another block of time for you to come and finish your amazing clock. This is a stress-free zone.
This class is for two people at a time, so you have plenty of room to move around the studio and to listen to the music of your choice and make your masterpiece with ease.
Come and have some fun making your own clock that you can take home to hang on your wall and enjoy.
Please note:
- You need to be able to stand securely on both feet and climb one flight of stairs to the workshop.
- Once the class is over and the clean up is done, all you need to do is wait for a message from your teacher showing the progress of your clock and she’ll let you know when it is all fused and it's ready to be picked up. As there are loads of steps to preparing this clock for your wall, we'll keep in touch and let you know when it is ready to be collected, usually well within four weeks of the workshop.
- If you have been unwell, get well first and then we’ll reschedule your class at zero cost for a new date agreed together.
- If you can't see a date and time that suits you here, please let Jenie know and we can arrange a special date for you.

Knowledge required
You need to be able to consistently cut thin strips of glass. Most of the black strips in this design are 1cm wide, sometimes.75cm wide. You have already done my Level 2 workshops: French Meadow, or Giant Fruit Platter Workshop.
What you'll get
The glass, the firings, the clock hands and the clock mechanism are included in this price, as well as the board and the hanging equipment. Please let me know if you want to make a smaller Mondrian clock and we can work out a price depending on the size. Size really does matter when it comes to building glass art.
What to bring
- If you’d like to bring alcoholic or other refreshments or nibbles to this workshop – that’ll be fine, assuming you are over 18 years of age.
- Please wear clothes that includes some kind of sleeve (not a tank top).
- Please wear closed toe shoes. (No thongs, no sandals that expose your toes.)

You can create all sorts of things in my studio, from bespoke handmade glass plates, to giant Mondrian wall clocks, or abstract wall art!
We run workshops for all ages. Come with your family and friends and create memories together.
