Book Origami classes on ClassBento and enjoy exclusive perks:
Origami originated in Japan in the sixth century with the importation of paper from China. At the time, paper was so revolutionary that its usage was strictly reserved for the upper class and religious ceremonies. Being held in such high esteem allowed the art form of origami to flourish, as more time and thought was placed into object’s design. During the Edo period (1603-1868), however, Origami became an activity for the everyman, as paper became more affordable and trade routes with China became more plentiful. From there it grew into one of the most accessible art forms, and post-World War II immigration saw the popularity of origami classes skyrocket in Australia. Due in part to its simplicity of equipment and its resulting beauty, origami has become synonymous with peace and relaxation, and is a versatile option if you’re looking for fun things to do in Sydney.
With the hustle and bustle of life, it can be hard to squeeze in time to treat yourself and/or the family to something relaxing. Although hands-on and highly interactive, ClassBento’s origami workshops in Sydney offer an experience that is both crafty and serene. There is an underlying zen to creating origami, and the attention to detail required to finish an origami piece - no matter how difficult - can be a very effective practice in mindfulness. Having a strong reputation of reducing stress and enhancing motor skills, origami classes promote inner peace and mindfulness in a way that other crafts don’t. ClassBento’s instructors understand the mental health benefits of learning origami and focus their teachings around creating an environment that promotes positive health and wellbeing.
With origami classes for kids, adults, groups and couples, you can be sure no matter your group dynamic, an origami workshop will give a welcome break to the week’s stresses, whilst also indulging the creative side. Origami workshops are not only a popular choice for fun things to do in Sydney with kids but a popular corporate team building event. It’s a wonderful alternative to the standard cliche’s of team building activities as it offers your workforce the shared experience required to bond effectively, without being highly strenuous or competitive.
Although it may seem intimidating at first, origami workshops in Sydney are a perfect way to take a much-needed break from an otherwise chaotic week, one of several engaging indoor activities in Sydney when the weather takes a turn, or simply a new skill to learn that benefits your brain. It’s also fun to get the kids involved and although it can be a peaceful solo adventure, it’s also a refreshing activity for the whole family to enjoy.
Origami classes function much like yoga for the brain. Your instructor will show you some essentials to get you started and as you get better, the paper folding will increase in intricacy, as will the rewards. All of our classes allow you to take your creations home with you, and if you require special attention, you can always book one-on-one classes to really enhance your origami game.
Health benefits of origami
Origami workshops in Sydney offer art therapy like no other. A recent study out of America found that children who learn origami have increased spatial perception skills and perform better in the areas of mathematics. Due to its unique combination of simple tools with complicated folds, origami classes boost your brain health and enhance fine motor skills in individuals of all ages. Origami is considered a “focused attention meditation” as it centres all your mental energy on the formation of one object. Whilst enhancing your motor skills, you’re also exercising your brain in a way that strengthens mental connections and aids in coping with stress and anxiety.
