What you'll do
Unlock your creativity at the unique Reverse Garbage (RG) workshop where you'll delve into basic woodworking skills and sustainable crafting. In this hands-on experience, participants will transform discarded materials like old pallets and firehose into a personalised small wagon to proudly take home. Throughout the workshop, safety takes centre stage as you master the proper usage of essential shop tools like a power drill, jigsaw, and compound mitre saw. Additionally, you'll gain insights into the process of safely disassembling a wooden pallet, a crucial skill for any upcycling enthusiast. Beyond the practicalities, the program also covers how to plan a woodworking project, providing a holistic understanding of the creative process. Join us for a day of skill-building, environmental consciousness, and the joy of crafting something unique from reclaimed treasures.
Due to the nature of the course, it is age-restricted for 10–15-year-olds to make sure that everyone is safe while working. The class has a capacity of 8 students and will have two educators present through out the day. The course will run for six hours, so be sure to pack a lunch and bring a water bottle (reusable packaging preferred!).
Knowledge required
There will be a lot of skill learning and building, so patience will be key.
