Beginner's Photography Classes - Brisbane

By John Tabari

See Brisbane from a whole new perspective in our beginner photography classes in Brisbane! Whether you have tried your hand at photography or are a complete beginner, there is no better time to learn how to take good quality photos with confidence.

You’ll become more knowledgeable in your craft while learning from professional photographers who know this city inside and out. Because all of our courses accommodate no more than eight people, you’ll get plenty of one-on-one time with the instructors. Their expertise will help you become a better photographer, and the opportunity to see Brisbane through a camera will give you a newfound appreciation for the beauty of this city!

If you sign up for any of the Brisbane photography classes, your instructor will be Nikki Elizabeth or Nicole Goggins. Nikki is a commercial photographer for events, portraits and weddings and was trained in photography at Griffith University in Southbank, Brisbane.

On the other hand, Nicole is a freelance photographer, specialising in family portraits. Both are friendly, open and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to photography. You’ll definitely really enjoy their instruction!

There are a few different options for photography courses in Brisbane. They are all at least three hours and will take you all over the city for some high-quality shots. Whatever class you choose, make sure to wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. Even if it’s a bit overcast, put on some sun-lotion and bring a hat. And always, bring a water bottle.

Grab your sun-lotion, hat, and sunglasses for this three hour photo tour through Brisbane’s most photographed locations. Your instructor will take you to Brisbane Town Hall, Queen Street Mall, Brisbane War Memorial, and the Botanical Gardens, all while teaching you important techniques and skills about street photography.

All you need is a digital camera (don’t worry, there’s a separate class for smartphones if you don’t have a digital camera) with a full battery and plenty of storage space. Then it’s time to start snapping!

If you’re looking for fun team building activities, consider a photography class to kickstart your weekend! It’s a great way to walk around Brisbane, learn how to take good quality photos and reconnect with one another.

Discover a whole new world at night

Night photography

Night and low-light photography can be an easy thing to master when you’re surrounded by a team of local, passionate photographers. If anyone is looking to learn how to take pictures after sunset, this class is perfect for you!

Your instructor will take you to Kangaroo Point Reserve, Storey Bridge and the Brisbane River so that you can capture some of the most beautiful nighttime scenes in the city. This class requires your fully-charged digital camera as well as a tripod, with cable release or remote.

Try your hand at smartphone photography

If you don’t have a digital camera but don’t want to be left out of the fun, try out this class designed specifically for smartphone photography. No matter what smartphone you have, your instructor will help you maximize your phone’s potential. You’ll learn about the basics of composition, control exposure, and more.

Over the course of three hours, your group will have the opportunity to photograph Brisbane Town Hall, Brisbane War Memorial, Queen Street Mall, and Brisbane Botanical Gardens, which is an amazing way to discover new, hidden gems in your city.

Join our day and night photography course

This six hour course will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of both daytime and low-light photography. As the light changes, you’ll be able to practice with different techniques, learning how to control aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.

The beauty of this longer class is that you get to visit a ton of locations—Brisbane Town Hall, Brisbane War Memorial, Queen Street Mall, The Botanical Gardens, Kangaroo Point Reserve, Storey Bridge and Brisbane River.

Since this is both a day and night class, you’ll need your digital camera to be fully charged (perhaps with extra batteries) as well as your tripod with cable release or remote.
