This year’s Vivid Festival Sydney offers a treasure trove of activities just waiting to be explored. This Sydney light festival is more than just a standard Sydney tourist attraction, it’s a month long celebration of music, light installations and culture. To help you experience the Vivid Sydney light show differently this year, we’ve pulled together five unique workshops spread from Vivid Barangaroo to Vivid Sydney Opera House. From short photography courses where you'll learn to capture the Vivid Sydney light show on film, to cocktail making classes overlooking Vivid Darling Harbour, if you're searching for things to do in Sydney at night this weekend we've got you covered!
1. Night Photography Short Course
Don’t miss your chance to get behind the camera and capture the Vivid light show in all its glory. If you have a DSLR or hybrid camera, join professional photographer Alfonso Calero for a night tour of the Rocks and learn how to take breathtaking shots of the Vivid lights that wind from the Opera House, all the way through Circular Quay and into The Rocks.
2. Panoramic Photography Workshop
Want to capture Vivid Sydney 2019 from another view point? You don’t need any experience with a camera to embark on this panoramic photography course that starts at Milsons Point. Join the afternoon session with professional photographer Sofia Beker and capture the sun setting over the Harbour Bridge as Vivid lights up around you.
3. Cocktail Making at MDC, King Street Wharf
Looking for things to do in Sydney at night at this year’s Vivid light show? After you’ve experienced the incredible lights of Winter Camp at Exchange Place and Wulugul Walk in Barangaroo, head to Meat District Co. on King Street Wharf for a fun cocktail making class. You’ll be taught by an inhouse mixologist Camilo Messa, a cocktail connoisseur. The package also includes a main meal, an Antipasto platter on arrival, and a glass of sparkling.
4. Cocktail Masterclass at Planar
Looking for fun things to do in Sydney with friends this weekend? After you've explored the Vivid installations in Darling Harbour and seen Robot SPACELand light up, drop into Planar Restaurant for a cocktail masterclass. After nibbles and a glass of sparkling on arrival, you'll spend the next hour learning how to make classic cocktails like a professional mixologist. And if you're feeling a bit too tipsy after the class, never fear, a main meal from Planar Restaurant is included in the package!
5. Pizza Making Class on King St Wharf
How often do you get to enjoy dinner and a light show? Get a group of friends together and kick off your night with a pizza making class at the Casa Ristorante Italiano on King Wharf Street! You’ll get to mix, knead, round, portion, and stretch the dough by hand before a fun Masterchef-style pizza challenge. Afterwards, if you're feeling full you can walk off your Italian feast and embark on the iconic Vivid Sydney Light Walk that stretches for more than three kilometres through the Quay.
