Wagashi Dessert Making Private Class
We decided to run our wagashi dessert making class for our team bonding day and it was such a joy We! We arrived at Kathryn's house in the Blue Mountains and were greeted with a delicious Buckwheat Tea. We made three desserts each and enjoyed the art of making them, each requiring patience and care. Kathryn was so lovely and patient with us and explained everything in fine detail. We arrived late, unfortunately due to the fact that Class Bento had not updated Kathryn's address properly Thankfully, we were able to contact Kathryn, when we could not find her house and she was gracious and generous. Wagashi Dessert Making Private Class
Kathryn was a great instructor. Not only was the instructions explained well, but also demonstrated techniques in a clear and concise way.
Arriving at the location, we felt quite welcome and the class location was extremely cozy.
Overall, the class was enjoyable, fun and insightful. The tools and support was also amazing, and the matcha mixing went well with the wagashi we made.

Kathryn is an amazing teacher/guide with so much patience. The entire workshop was a beautiful process, from start to finish. The pace was perfect and the craft supplies were the best quality. Vegan Momo Cooking Class
This class was excellent as it had you making the filling, the dough and rolling out the wrappings (which I have heard other classes do not offer). The teacher also takes you through a variety of wrapping techniques for the mo-mos. Another great things was we had the fresh steamed dumplings right after we made them and then had enough to take home and pan-fry for dinner and we were a group of 4 so plenty of food. Would highly recommend this class

DIY Japanese Togarashi Powder Kit
Was sooo very impressed with this kit & would totally recommend it to anyone. The quality & quantity were amazing, really loved the small Japanese mortal & pestle sooo cute & very useful for lots of things. I really enjoyed this class and like how my desserts turned out. There were some logistical issues that made things more challenging though. I didn't realise there was pre-work for the class as nothing in the confirmation email suggested this, and I'd been saving the kit I got to open on the day of the class. Little did I know, I was supposed to have prepared two doughs the day before! I think it wouldI really enjoyed this class and like how my desserts turned out. Kathryn was always super positive and really encouraging as we tackled making the different Wagashi types!
Time passed so quickly since we were having so much fun - but it NEVER felt rushed or like we had to hurry. Before we knew it the class was over and we all felt accomplished having produced 4 or 5 different designs to take home! Super cute bunny design was a favourite of mine!

We really enjoyed our class. Was worth the travel from Sydney. My teenage daughter was apprehensive at first but by the end she loved it. The teacher was very encouraging and gave interesting facts along the way. I think we rushed ourselves
(not the teacher) and needed to understand that the class was just as much about the craft as it was a lesson in tranquility and patience. Highly recommend.

Kathryn's Soba making class was really informative and lots of fun. She is a really great teacher and incredibly knowledgable in preparing such labour-intensive foods such as Soba!
Soba is a very intimidating thing to try and learn on your own, and Kathryn offers really important hands-on information and tips throughout the whole lesson. When I try and make soba on my own, I'll definitely be putting into practice and trying to improve with everything she taught me!

Cooking class
Kathryn welcomed me into her home like an old friend. She is sensitive and cheerful, and her home lovely and peaceful.
I think I had a feeling about it before going in but was pleasantly surprised to find out that Kathryn would be guiding me to do things the hard wayworking the raw ingredients by hand, putting in the labour to build things from the bottom up with no short cuts - a genuine attitudeKathryn welcomed me into her home like an old friend. I think I had a feeling about it before going in but was pleasantly surprised to find out that Kathryn would be guiding me to do things the hard wayworking the raw ingredients by hand, putting in the labour to build things from the bottom up with no short cuts - a genuine attitude and respect for the process.
The goma tofu felt minimal and full of vitality. It is 3 ingredients (one being spring water) worked into a lovely delicious dish.
We used an authentic grinding bowl and stick made of sansho wood, a pleasure to handle, and I stopped caring about time whilst slowly and patiently grinding away.
I learned, as described, how to make a simple, beautiful dish, but also found a touch of spirit in the process.  + more

Kathryn's class was fantastic. She is very knowledgeable and welcoming and a fantastic teacher. We left the class feeling calm and relaxed having taken some time to engage in our creative sides. The class is great value for money, and was the perfect addition to our trip to the Mountains.

I really enjoyed it, I’m glad i took the class and its worth the money and the trip to the mountain! Me and other students got to learn how to make the cute desserts and the learning process was the most enjoyable things of all.
It was very hands on and Kathryn is amazing teacher :)

Natural Lipstick Making Class
I have done a few workshops with Kathryn. She is a wonderful teacher who is patient and kind. She has a fun energy about her and knows her stuff! My friend and I had a lovely afternoon and I love my new lipsticks and lip balms. They smell lovely and feel great to wear. I highly recommend this class :)

Loved this class! Kathryn was a fantastic teacher and talked us patiently through the steps of preparing and colouring the Wagashi dough, followed by putting in the filling, shaping and decorating. We came away with five Wagashi each, all different designs. They were almost too pretty to each (but we ate them anyway because they were delicious!) highly recommended, will definitely return for Kathryn’sLoved this class! It was lovely to meet Kathryn and learn the art of making a pure natural lipstick. I loved the final colour. Kathryn was very welcoming, gave me delicious japenese tea and informed me on the various fruits and organic substances that complement her receipe. A lovely morning.

Cooking class
I got the tempeh making class with Kathryn for my boyfriends birthday. From the moment we stepped into her home we felt so warm and welcome. She had some tasty tea and tempeh snacks for us, on arrival and showed us throughly through the process, answering all the questions along the way. We left knowing how to make tempeh and with supplies to try it again at home. Would definitely recommend for anyone with an interest in ferments, makes for a perfect day trip to the blue mountains.
