If you’ve never built a terrarium before, just know there’s a lot to fall in love with. In this Perth workshop, you and Dad will be creating your own little world with an ecosystem that will support itself.

In the Industrial Revolution, it was discovered that terrariums could give plants clean air. From then on, the sea was full of ships with these tiny terrariums carrying things like fruit, plants, or tea. Carry on this tradition by making a homemade terrarium of your very own.

In this Father's Day class, you will learn how to make a terrarium that will last for years using traditional and newer techniques and materials. You will also get to dive into different kinds of design.

Your instructor's terrarium designs tend to focus on the integration of wood and stones with terrarium plants. You may prefer a more traditional approach, or you may seek to be a storyteller with your design. Whatever it is, the focus of this class is to help you bring that vision forward.

At the end of the class, you and Dad will take your finished DIY terrariums home to display and admire!

I learnt about plants from my grandfather. I would watch him pull carrots out of the ground and wipe the dirt off on his pants. He would bend down from his place in the clouds, where giants lived, and hand them to me. It felt magical. And it still feels like that every time I start working my fingers through the root of plants for my terrarium.
