On the search for unique pottery classes in Sydney? This two-day course is designed for intermediate to advanced potters wanting to learn how to make teapots.
Learn design principles to make a teapot with Hilary Jones. Many of the skills you'll learn in this class can be applied to various other functional pottery projects.
Hilary will demonstrate and teach you how to throw on the wheel, make the spout and strainer, pull a handle and the best lid design.
We're excited to bring you this special Sydney Craft Week Festival edition teapot pottery course. We'll be hosting two weeks of amazing opportunities to connect with clay, ranging from beginners to advanced potters.
Our lifestyle, art and craft studio in Cammeray, North Sydney provides a relaxed creative space for our pottery workshop. With a small group, you’ll be given plenty of individual attention.
Day one (6 hours)
Introduction to throwing to make a teapot: we will focus on important steps such as preparing the clay, throwing and throwing off the hump and more.
Day two (6 hours)
Trimming and designing your teapot: trimming and constructing your teapot.
Firing is not included for non-members, however, we offer an onsite firing service and casual studio use if you wish to come back to finish your work.
This class series runs over one weekend.
Knowledge required
Best suited to adults with intermediate to advanced throwing skills.
 
What you'll get
  • The use of our pottery wheels, equipment and tools.
  • White stoneware clay.
  • Your own teapot to take home.
  • Tea, coffee and cookies.
What to bring
  • Please wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothes you're okay with getting clay on and are loose fitting to allow you to sit close to the wheel. We suggest long hair is tied back and jewellery such as rings, bracelets and watches are removed before the class.
  • This project is not recommended for students with long or acrylic nails.
  • BYO refreshments and snacks (tea, coffee and cookies provided).
