Leather Jewellery Making Class

Make leather jewellery in Newtown!

1.5 hours Class size 1 to 11     label $90

Looking for unique Sydney activities? Learn how to make fun, statement jewellery pieces made from leather with Christina Sceats from Xanadu Designs!

At this creative and casual class, you will design and create a pair of light, colourful earrings using salvaged leather.

We will briefly explore design elements such as colour, contrast, pattern, shapes and basic jewellery design. You will then paint the leather in bright, contrasting patterns and cut, layer and craft a pair of earrings using simple tools and jewellery findings.

The best part? Everyone will leave the workshop with their own original pair of earrings and enough materials to make another pair at home!

Please note:
We do not offer a refund or exchange on workshops if you are unable to attend. You are welcome to arrange for someone else to come to a workshop in your place. You must notify Artisans' Nest at least 24 hours prior to the workshop beginning of the change in attendee details.

Artisans' Nest

Artisans’ Nest, located in Newtown, brings the magic of handmade products, designs and the work of local artisans and makers to a concept store, right at your doorstep.

When COVID 19 hit, thousands of businesses were negatively impacted. Local markets were also closed down, leaving hundreds of small, local businesses without selling outlets.

In September 2020, three micro-business owners and friends (from hosting market stalls next to each other), sat down and brainstormed ideas of how to keep their businesses alive. Markets, trade shows and events were their businesses’ lifeline and now that they are all on-hold or shut down, these women needed to diversify and fast.

Enter Artisans’ Nest – the brainchild of Newtown local, Julia as well as Teresa and Stephie.
A one stop shop featuring a mix of homewares, stationary, jewellery, ceramics, skincare, gifts and much more, all locally designed and made in small batches.

With the help of locals, friends, generous souls and family, the three owners were able to source their producers, design the shop, paint it, fit it out, build shelving and open the doors to this gorgeous space that hits all the senses, perfectly.

Since the beginning, we've always wanted to host workshops. That dream is now a reality!
