Looking for fun pottery classes in Brisbane? This clay and sip class is the perfect way to enjoy a night of sculpting, pinch potting and sipping with instructor Jenna!

ALL people are allowed to attend, as covid safety measures are in place with regulations (social distancing, mask rules and check-ins).

You will take home two to four small pieces, nice and easy to carry home.

During this beginner-friendly workshop and art class, you’ll learn basic skills like hatching, sticking together and shaping forms and will sculpt using air-drying clay. You will follow along with an artist instructing a demo at the front and receive one-on-one guidance and assistance as needed.

But it’s also all about having fun, so if you want to do your own things and just embrace the experience of something new, you can do that too!

We will be working with air drying clay which means you can take it home and let it dry and after around 24 to 48 hours you can paint your creations yourself later however you feel with watercolours, acrylics or poster paints.

You could even paint resin over it to make it waterproof! This is a great idea for friends, couples, dates, hens parties, work parties, team building activities, birthdays or just to come and experience something new.

You will be able to craft something beautiful to take home and display proudly and enjoy a few glasses of your favourite beverage too!

Class was fun but it was more like play with clay than actually learning about clay and sculpting. It would've been nice to learn about the tools we were using but I didn't even know if I was using things correctly.

That said, very fun night and I made some pretty things!

Ariana Yoder Jan 2022

I loved the sculpt and sip class! The teacher was lovely - very encouraging and helpful. The venue was perfect for the occasion offering aircon, lots of space, and appropriate areas to clean up afterward.

Kath Peasey Jan 2022

I enjoyed the experience of working with the clay. I really love the two pieces I created, but wasn’t sure what to make in the second half of the session. Our teacher was very personable. I would have liked there to be more direction/advice with regards to giving ideas of what to create during the second half of the session. Also it would have been helpful to have things like cutters or items to create patterns/textures or shapes for example leaves and the like to help create the pieces.

Class was fantastic, great fun and the teacher was wonderful. Only downside I would say is more tools for the table but other then that I couldn’t fault the location, class or teacher. Thanks for having us !

Bianca McIntyre Jan 2022

Great class, the teacher was very knowledgeable and helpful. We made things with clay and it was a lot of fun. We got to take our creations home and got boxes to carry them in which was very helpful.

Courtney Dickson Jan 2022

Madison was really great. She explained everything clearly and made the night really fun. Thankyiu!

Melissa Figueroa Dec 2021

The teacher was friendly enough but it would have been great to get a better overview of what we were doing at the beginning of the class and explaining what type of clay we were using or any basic clay techniques. It was very 'figure it out yourself' instead, which some people might enjoy I guess. I don't know that I'd go to this specific class again but it was fine as a chance to play with clay and have a few drinks.

Penny Buglass Dec 2021

We had a good time but luckily we are a bit creative and could kind of make things up as we went. There was not a lot of direction from the teacher, Grace. She was enthusiastic but we didn’t really ‘learn’ anything.

Me and my hubby absolutely loved the experience and it was such a great value. Highly recommend it.

Caitlin Gallagher Dec 2021

Teacher was lovely. The class was relaxing and went at a good pace.
We went for a end of year work function and it was perfect.

Jamie Atkinson Dec 2021

Great value for money, easy to follow along with the teacher or do your own thing

Mitch Dolan Dec 2021

Doorbell wasn’t answered until the whole class was standing out front wondering if it was the right place.
Ambiguity between the end of the directed crafting and the commencement of self paced activity.
Besides that, 10/10

Natasha Veselinovic Dec 2021

Great value for money. The teacher was so lovely, helpful and fun! Would definitely recommend! I’ve already told all my friends about it!

Alison Pokarier Nov 2021

I was hoping for a Japanese Teacher as advertised. I am serious about Pottery and asked about lessons only to be told to try Google Very disappointing.

Reply from this teacher:

Hello Alison,
There are no Japanese staff unfortunately and nowhere that shows or states that.
As part of the description, this is clay and sip which is beginner friendly, fun and interactive. It’s great your wanting to learn professional pottery and I hope we could give you insights and skills to take away to support you into doing this in the future.

Emma Downing Nov 2021

It was great. Teacher was very knowledgable and friendly. We came away inspired and ready to do more classes:)

Hayley Potter Nov 2021

The instructor (Maddison) was great and was very informative. The vibes were great with the music. I really enjoyed how we were allowed to make whatever we wanted and personalise our crafts. The only thing was that we brought a cheese platter but didn’t really have time to eat or drink as the class could have gone for another half an hour and there was no tissues or napkins to wipe your hands as it gets pretty messy. Overall, was a great experience but would probably want a longer class and wouldn’t bring food as we ended up wasting a bit.

Clay and Sip Pottery Class review by Hayley Potter

Alexandra Fryer Nov 2021

Was a fun class to do - made a useful item which I like the idea of more than paint and sip classes. Teacher was lovely ! Venue was good, too cold but that’s minor

Taylor Fryer Nov 2021

Maddison was great and interactive but also allowed us to let our creativity flow. Such a fun class for a Friday night girls night would recommend! Great music playlist too

Courtney Wilson Nov 2021

Overall a good time. Not too much teaching from the teacher, so we were kind of left unsure what to make in the beginning. Once we started making things she started to come around and gave some suggestions.

Would have been better if we made something along with the teacher for the first half and then made our own thing for the second half.

Isabella Cau Nov 2021

Ainsley Crase Nov 2021

Needed more direction from the teacher - didn’t really ‘learn’ much! Was very fun though!

Kyra Atwood Oct 2021

Great fun and really enjoyed the class. Teacher was great and materials provided were perfect.

The only suggestion i would make is telling people when they book that they will get to create their own item. i thought the class would be taught and we would make specific items. it would have been nice to know beforehand so i could think about what i wanted to make, instead of coming up with it on the spot.

Mikayla Moraghan Oct 2021

I had the pleasure of having Mad/dison as the instructor. She was amazing! Spoke so well with instructions, and made it so much fun! She was goofy, funny and professional all at once! I would 100% go back! She taught me to make a bee at first but i turned it into a turtle! She praised my work which was so comforting because i don't have an artistic bone in my body 100% would recommend to everyone go to

We had a great time! Everything was provided and we were given lots of freedom to go at our own pace and make whatever we felt like!

Paul Rafton Oct 2021

Teacher was great, we all had so much fun in the class and learnt alot. This was a great work/team bonding event. Would recommend to everyone. They provided enough clay to make so many things. Great experience.

Sarah Clark Oct 2021

I had a really great time at this class and had fun with friends, however in all honesty it was a little disappointing. For the class price I thought aprons at the very least would have been included, and we didn't really receive any guidance from the teacher.

We had fun and got some cool pieces to take home, it just wasn't what I'd expected.

Kelsey Evans Oct 2021

Great fun, easy process, good materials provided, nice location :) Size of the venue/amount of attendees made it at times hard to hear the instructor but this didn't matter too much once we got sculpting.

Emily Oct 2021

It was so much fun. The teacher was lovely. A great way to spend a Friday evening.

Mateuse Pingol Oct 2021

Fantastic teacher, Jenna was lovely! We really enjoyed being shown how to make one dish/vase and then we could pick what we wanted to make and Jenna gave us really good advice on how to do it. Wine glasses were provided and the class just had a really fun vibe. Lots of time to chat and experiment.

Henna Baird Oct 2021

A great way to be introduced to clay or just have some fun practicing your skills! The atmosphere was great fun and it was cool to see what everyone made. It was difficult to hear the teacher speak which was confusing at times.

Really fun, friendly and expert teacher, relaxing activity to do with friends and learn something new!

Lisa Myers Sep 2021

Teacher, Grace was lovely. Maybe could have made a couple of things in the 2 hour time frame, as we had plenty of time left over. Say something easy and something a little more challenging. I enjoyed the class though. Also for the price, some nibblies could have been provided.

Rose Rogers Sep 2021

Reasonably priced, Teacher was lovely, a really chilled/nice atmosphere and most of all, so much fun

Jennifer Goddard Sep 2021

We had a lovely time at the clay and sip class. However we didn’t get what the event advertised - “You will follow along with an artist instructing a demo”. The instructor was lovely but there was no demo. Just a sheet of ideas and a quick 20 second demo on the hatching process. None of us has played with clay before so we had absolutely no idea what to make and ended up searching on Pinterest for ideas during the class. We were basically given a slab of clay and some tools and left to our own devices.
We had a great time nonetheless but we were left a little disappointed that there was no demo towards a final piece.

Deanna Herbst Sep 2021

Couldn’t find it. When I rang, teacher didn’t answer phone or check messages. No instructions or particular technique or product. Not enough clay or utensils to to make anything worthwhile

Pottery workshop review by Deanna Herbst

Mackenzie Holmes Sep 2021

We had such a great time! Jenna was a great teacher and helped with everything we needed while still giving us autonomy to do our own thing! We didn’t have much artist experience but the ideas Jenna have helped to point us in the right direction. Very happy with this class and our pieces. Thank you Jenna!

So much fun! Great size class and Jenna was lovely. Would love to come back soon :)

Kay Campbell Sep 2021

Enjoyable night playing with clay. Virtually no instructions or suggestions given except for a laminated sheet of pictures of clay things. Would have preferred more guidance and offer to glaze and fire our creations.

Kathryn Rostirolla Sep 2021

All in all, we all had a great time. There was 11 of us with a mixture of manly men, artsy women’s and all the bits in between. Everyone got a chance to ask questions or ask for help if they needed. The 2 hour session was split into 2 sections. The first section was mostly guided by Jenna on how to make relatively the same thing which was a good starting point then the 2nd hour we got to make our own things. Would recommend :)

Fun night with friends! Easy going environment! And no pressure to be the best! Thanks

Nuria Köppel Jul 2021

We had a great evening among friends, it was easy to bring snacks and drinks and it was nice to be doing something while chatting. Good atmosphere, nice location.

However, given the cost of the class, I do not think much was offered at all. While helpful and very friendly, the guidance and inspiration of the instructor was minimal. We did not learn anything and the pieces we created could have been produced with material everyone has at home & some clay which is very inexpensive.

Jacqueline Loose Jul 2021

Jenna, the instructor was lovely. Very sweet, accommodating and responsive to queries (there were many!)

The venue was a multi- purpose arts space in the cbd, so easy to get to by public transport. Parking however is difficult around the venue which made it a bit tricky with dropping and picking things up! But we made it work!

The venue had pretty much everything we needed (fridges, glasses etc) Champagne flutes might be a nice addition.

Further more, supplied aprons (disposable or reusable would be great)

We booked this for a hens do and overall I think it was a huge success. The girls all seemed to enjoy themselves!

Compared to other pottery options it was definitely the most affordable available, so value for money wise we were very pleased.

Thanks again class Bento and Jenna!

Aimee Ferrie Jun 2021

We had a really fun night! All the materials are provided, including a little box to take your pottery home in, and Jenna was super friendly, lovely and helpful. You get guidance on technique but freedom to essentially make what you want (including mildly disturbing frog figurines). Hot tip: don't immediately drink the water on the table that's meant for the clay and then use the cup for aloe vera juice. Not that I know anyone dumb enough to do this, of course.
Anyway, 10/10 would recommend for a cute date or friend and family activity!

Jenna was a brilliant host and instructor - as a beginner to pottery all I knew was there would be clay involved.
She took us through the steps on how to make a vase and then helped us individually with our own pieces.

The class was great value for money! I will 100% be recommending this to other people (I’d do it again myself but, as it turns out, I am TERRIBLE at pottery)
