Italian cuisine dates all the way back to thousands of years ago, with the likes of pasta, bread and pizza making. Although Italy as a country has only existed since the 19th century, the multiple millennia worth of food history stretches back before the Romans. Each city in Italy has its own variations on traditional Italian food, with Venetian and Sicilian cuisine being the most popular deviations. Using a combination of seafood, vegetables, red meat and staple carbohydrates, Italian cuisine is often praised for achieving maximum flavour out of minimal ingredients. Some of Italy’s most famous dishes have fewer than six ingredients, and with such an emphasis on fresh high quality produce, the world has fallen in love with both cooking and enjoying Italian cuisine.
Italian cooking classes in Melbourne are a perfect way to learn what goes into the style of food you eat nearly every day. Our pizza making classes are a superb way of appreciating the art of making the perfect pizza dough and learning how to marry fresh ingredients to create a flavour explosion that will blow Dominos out of the water.
Most Italian cooking schools will give you the essentials on how to cook pasta from scratch, so you can enjoy fresh fettuccine, linguine and gnocchi in your own home! Our pasta making classes are one of the truly unique experiences Melbourne has to offer, and learning to make your own dough is an intricate yet simple process. Learning to cook is not just a great confidence builder, but a good penny-pinching tip. With newfound confidence and skills up your sleeve, you'll be able to feel inspired to create Italian dishes at home and show them off to your friends and family. No more store-bought takeaway but delicious, homemade dishes shared around the table!
What to expect at Italian cooking classes in Melbourne
Our Italy cooking classes are run by Italian food aficionados who are keen to share their wisdom and experience when it comes to dishing up exquisite Italian cuisine. You’ll be shown how to balance key elements and ingredients in order to make a beautifully traditional passata and turn it into a base for a fresh and authentic pasta dish. Learn what it takes to roll traditional Italian meatballs, and how to create a creamy seafood risotto that’s absolutely al dente!
Learning the art of Italian cooking is deliciously rewarding and suitable for people of all levels of experience. The style of Italian cuisine means that it’s exceptionally versatile, and our workshops can cater to vegetarians and vegans, as well as people with gluten intolerance. It always helps to let your teacher know beforehand to the class, so they can have adequate time to prepare the alternative ingredients so you can get the most out of your Italian cooking class in Melbourne, without compromising on flavour.

Did you know pizza and pasta is also good for you? Although covering a wide range of food groups and cooking styles, Italian food is one of the healthiest cuisines in the world. With its emphasis on fresh vegetables and grains, you’re getting plenty of vitamins and minerals. Being a high fibre diet, Italian cuisine is great at stabilising blood pressure and lowering your cholesterol.
