Make Your Own Gemstone Mala Workshop

Learn stringing techniques and knotting techniques

3 hours 1 to 15 label $150

Mala bead necklaces have traditionally been used in meditation and prayer in many Asian cultures. However, many wear them for purposes such as healing parts of the body, mind, spirit, or simply because they are drawn to the beautiful coloured beads. Making your own gemstone mala is a beautiful process through which you can incorporate blessings and intentions into your necklace. In this workshop, you will be guided through the process of creating your own mala. All materials required to make your mala is included in the cost. Only genuine semi-precious gemstones and precious metals are used to create your special mala.

This is an excellent opportunity to create your own personalized spiritual meditation mala. Journey as a beginner into the sacred world of malas, as we find your personal vibrational gemstones, paired with powerful intentions can be used as a transformational tool to manifesting and fulfilling your soul purpose and can assist you in finding a deeper meditation practice.
The Basic Mala is the one that will be made during the course of the workshop. It consists of 108 gemstone beads, silk tassel and string and a silver guru bead.

Also, a workbook will be provided to aid in creating your perfect mala.

The Art of being a maker!

Makers take raw materials and transform them into objects of desire. It is an art form, it is a craft, and it can be taught.

Come and experience a workshop with Masterful Makers. In as little as 5 hours you can walk out with a piece of handmade jewellery crafted by yourself, a luxurious leather bag, a stunning knotted mala, or your own personalized luxury skincare products.

I am Victoria White, a one-woman dynamo/mad scientist/designer, & maker of crafts. Coming from an Art History background, my love for art, the history of man, and pretty shiny things came together while being pregnant with my daughter and working for the Museum of African American Art in Florida. I fell in love with African trade beads. They were historical in context, heavy with human drama, an artefact, an antique, pretty, and were relatively cheap. Pairing the few trade beads I had with semi-precious stones and sterling silver wire, I began to make my first wrapped earrings for fun. It was very therapeutic and relaxing until my husband at the time saw the box of earrings I had made, took them to work, and presented me with a box of money that afternoon, after having sold them all to his work colleagues! And that is how all this madness began. That was a bit over 25 years ago. And here we are now.

I am not your typical jeweller. I aim for grand pieces with fabulous stones, thus the term rockstar. The rocks I deal with are sparkly and precious. I own and manage Gems, Rocks, Bling in Sydney, working from my Surry Hills studio. I specialise in bespoke one of a kind pieces featuring precious stones & metals. I also facilitate jewellery classes for groups and individuals.

My first love is of course jewels, but leather is a close second. I revel in the feel of beautiful buttery leather and discovered I loved creating items from it when I decided to make and design packaging for my jewellery.

Victoria and her assistant were fantastic with our boys (ages 9,11yrs) she had them completely engaged the whole time with detailed information and activities. They loved cracking the geode rocks and they loved making the silver necklaces and learning about different types of rocks and how they are formed. We hope to have Victoria back again.

My teacher Victoria was super cool and experienced. She had all the beads and a great range to choose from. I had so much fun learning how to make my own Mala beads. She even spend extra time to teach me how to make beaded bracelet . So definitely worth the money. I am going back to learn more.

Victoria is a wonderful teacher. She has some beautiful pieces and very experienced. It was nice to learn how to put together a Mala with her.

I enjoyed using the Chakra cards to help me determine which crystals I could use, and as you can see from the pic, you have no idea what the finished product will look like once you start working with different crystals which makes it more fun.

Victoria was an energetic and enthusiastic teacher that went to great lengths to make me feel comfortable in the jewellery making course. She walked through each step of the process, communicating in an enthused manner the endless possibilities of creating my own unique mala. She went to great lengths to ensure that my piece was exactly as I wanted it, and showed great dedication by helping in areas where I was finding the process a little tricky. The venue was lovely, and the class was well organised. I parked nearby (lucky I got a limitless parking spot), but for future customers, it may be better to catch public transport.
