5 x 2 hours Class size 5 to 10     label $349

Our five-week intermediate wheel throwing course in Sydney is the perfect next step in extending and refining your wheel-throwing and hand-building skills.

The course is designed to help you refine your technique and take on challenges you’re ready to tackle, such as throwing with larger amounts of clay, advanced shaping, improving trimming proficiency, and incorporating a combination of hand-building and wheel-throwing to build larger pots.

We will work with you individually to compose a set of goals that we will help you achieve over the duration of the course. Summarized weekly goals may include:

  • Week 1: Focusing on cylinders, refining wheel-throwing technique
  • Week 2: Throwing large bowls and platters
  • Week 3: Advancing shaping skills on taller forms
  • Week 4: Transforming pieces through trimming, incorporating thrown foot-rings
  • Week 5: Refining and glazing.

The workshops are small and intimate to maximise your experience. At the end, you will finish with 2-3 pieces that are all food-safe and dishwasher-friendly.

Crockd was started with one mission: to get the world out of its head and into its hands.

We were looking for a way to unwind from the week. We wanted something that could help us chill out and find a sense of ease. Something imperfect, messy and real. Something creative.

We figured we’d order some clay online, watch some tutorials and get our creativity on. Only ordering clay wasn’t so easy — it involved wholesale accounts and bulk amounts.

But although our impulsive crafternoon was out of reach, it got us thinking… Maybe there were other people (like you!) looking for fun date night ideas, a way to unwind or a way to connect with their creativity and with others.

So we hosted our first crafternoon with some mates and it was pure magic — interesting creations, deep conversations and a whole lotta laughs.

That’s when we knew this was something more people needed to experience.

So fast forward a couple of years, and here we are. Still shook that so many people believe in our mission, and want to get Crockd with us.
