Join me in my cozy studio for this private or semi private session, and let me guide you through the foundational skills in pottery, of centering clay on the wheel and making a bowl.
You'll spend the first few minutes saying 'hello' to the clay and doing some brief activities to get a feel for the pottery wheel.
Then you'll see a step-by-step demonstration on the wheel. From there, you'll be guided through the stages of making a small wheel-thrown bowl. Wheel throwing makes it easier to create polished, refined and symmetrical bowls. It takes a little skill, but that's what this class is for!
If you'd like to stretch this class out so that you have more time (which you can decide on the day after experiencing it), that's possible too.
You'll leave your bowls with me to be fired (usually takes 2-3 weeks).
As an alternate plan, you can also bring your own idea to class and I can guide you through the process of making it in clay, either on the wheel or by handbuilding.
The price includes materials and firing one bowl per person with a clear glaze, which will be posted to you.
The class is for 1 or 2 people (if you book for just 1 person, it will be a 1 on 1 class). If you're interested in a general pottery class without using wheels, I can accommodate maximum 4 students, just get in touch with your preferred date(s) and I can send you a custom invitation to book.
No knowledge required - beginners welcome!
If you've already got some pottery skills or want to do something specific (like making pots with matching lids), just get in touch and we can set up a separate customised class for you
All equipment provided. Just wear clothes that you wouldn't mind getting some clay on. Short nails are best for wheel work.
This workshop is perfect for individuals and couples as well as for a special occasion or birthday.
