What you'll do
Ready to create light, fluffy sponge cakes? This hands-on session will cover the basics of how to produce beautiful sponges in your home kitchen.
During this session, we will make two styles of sponges, giving tips and techniques to achieve featherlight batters and a beautiful rise. Plus, we will make some delicious fillings to elevate your bakes.
This session will leave you inspired to reproduce these recipes for your family and friends. Plus, you'll take home a selection of sponges we've baked together!
What you will learn:
- Preparing and understanding ingredients and the preparation of equipment
- Techniques to achieve a beautiful light batter
- How to make and bake a variety of sponge styles
- How to make perfectly delicious fillings
Please note:
- This class does not cater for allergies or gluten intolerances.
- Suitable for ages 18 years and up. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept participants under 18 years due to insurance requirements.
- Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time to ensure you receive the allotted time.
- Printed notes are not supplied in this class but will be emailed to you at the end of the class.

My love of baking was formed at a very young age and some of my fondest memories as a child are when I was helping my Mother and Grandmother in the kitchen. Whilst I love all forms of cooking, baking is my favourite. I love to try new recipes and techniques and have developed some of my own recipes.
My decorating skills were not always as they are now but I always strived to improve. It was by accident, after a friend gifted me a decorating class almost 10 years ago, that I fell in love with cake decorating. Since then, I have sought out opportunities to improve my skills and have attended decorating classes with internationally renowned decorators.
