Weaving for Kids Class - Weave Your Own Bracelet or Bookmark

School holidays - Weave a bracelet to wear or a bookmark to treasure in their favourite book.

8+ years & Adults     1.5 hours Class size 1 to 12 guests

$60 (Afterpay & PayPal Pay in 4 available)

Put down the devices and pick up something to make and wear. Kids link up to a ready-to-go loom and start weaving from the moment they arrive—no waiting, no setting up. They choose their loom and weave a bracelet to wear or a bookmark to treasure in their favourite book. Every child will leave with a completed, usable item that is entirely their own. No two pieces will look the same.

FAQ

Can I drop my child off and leave?
Parents/guardians are required to stay for the duration of the workshop. While we all hold current Working With Children Checks, we are not childcare providers. We’re weavers who love sharing the joy of making by hand, and children remain the responsibility of their parent/guardian throughout the session.
What if the weather is bad for an outdoor session?
The outdoor session will go ahead in cold weather. If rain is forecast, a decision will be made 24 hours before the session and full refunds will be given. Or if there's space at Alphington, we can have it there instead. But it is quite lovely in the park.
Does my child need any experience?
No, but it’s super helpful that they come with a curious and patient attitude. The looms will be set up with the warp already prepared (that’s the hard bit) and then your child can start weaving (which is the easier part) after watching all the instructions.

What if my child doesn't finish their piece by the end of the session?
They’ll likely finish their piece by the end. But making a short piece is ok. If there’s no time for hemming, they can take it home someone could sew it for them or leave it with Corrin who can sew it after the session and arrange pickup another time.
What if my child gets bored?
We’ve designed this workshop to be engaging, hands-on, and fun. It’s super helpful if your child arrives with a little curiosity and patience. Of course, every child is different - if your child really doesn’t want to continue, they’re welcome to step away. But in our experience, once they see their weaving come together, most are hooked and excited to finish.

It was love at first sight the day I stepped into the textiles studio at uni, and since then, I never really stopped weaving. I weave using natural fibers to create bold, rhythmic flow through repetition and texture.
Actively involved in local arts and sustainability communities, I aim to slow life down, staying grounded in a mindful, contemplative approach to my work.
“Each piece of fabric tells a story, starting with every yarn that passes through my fingers and is threaded onto a loom to create cloth. I embrace modern and traditional techniques to craft cloth with purpose.”
I’m committed to preserving lost trades, fostering individuality, and inspiring cultural change while resisting mass consumerism.
I teach the art of creating pieces using natural and upcycled fibers, emphasizing environmentally respectful practices in every work.
Through my practice and teaching, I strive to inspire learners to think critically, honor traditional skills, and create with intention. Rooted in the traditions of handmade cultures and the enduring value of hand skills, my work promotes mindfulness, sustainability, community, and lifelong learning.
