During this class, you'll understand how to use technologies like the Silhouette Cameo and Cricut to cut intricate designs for paper, Tyvek and vinyl resist on ceramics.

The core value of these workshops is they are hands-on - you won't just be watching someone else do it!

What you'll learn:

  • Installation and basic features of Adobe Illustrator (to edit vector images).
  • Step by step how to find free vector images and basic editing to create custom imagery for your ceramics.
  • Cameo features and types of materials that can be used.
  • Tips for layout and cutting including what doesn't work so well.
  • Setup and cutting Tyvek, newsprint and vinyl shapes with the Cameo and when to use each one.
  • Applying cut out designs to ceramic tiles and using underglazes to resist effects.
  • Have fun playing and traversing with layering on ceramics including resist, stamps and slip.

By the end of this workshop, you'll walk out with fabulous new ceramic design ideas and new skills to use technologies like Adobe Illustrator and the Cameo with your work. This beginner-friendly class is a great opportunity to have a play before you jump off the deep end and invest in buying a machine.

I have been working with clay since 2015 and in my work I am interested in reflecting elements of architecture, history, fabrics and interior design and exploring hidden objects and secrets by creating hidden elements in my work.

Outside of ceramics, I have over 20 years’ experience in information technology. I unite these two passions by developing workshops combining technology and ceramics and focused on using the latest digital technologies to enhance ceramics practices.
