What you'll do
If you are just starting out in photography, this workshop will arm you with a solid foundation and understanding of the essentials of photography and a solid understanding of your DSLR camera's buttons, modes and capabilities.
The two-hour workshop will be broken down into two parts:
1. Foundation and understanding of the essentials of photography (1h 15min - Location: my place in Bondi Beach)
2. Practice on Bondi Beach! (45min - Location: on the beach)
You will learn about:
- DSLR camera's buttons and menus
- Modes M, AV, TV and Auto
- Shutter speeds and apertures
- Metering and exposure
- Raw versus Jpeg
- Introduction to composition

I am a passionate professional photographer, based in Sydney. I love capturing images that are full of emotion and personality - images that tell a story.
I started photography in 2014, during a trip with my sister - she initiated me to photography, and I completely got into it! Since then, I have focused on portraits, wedding, lifestyle and landscape. I use the finest camera equipment, including Canon 5D Mark III and Canon L lenses.

Guen is a good teacher for a beginner like me. I’ve no idea how to use DSLR camera and she taught me the basic things and how to use my own camera (Nikon D3500) and also the best way to take a good photo. It was raining at the time I had my class but she showed so much that I need to know just being indoor. I can’t wait until I master my photography and join her editing class

Guen was friendly, very easy to get along with she made the experience of learning something new enjoyable and I felt commutable to ask her any questions I had. She explained the information in a way that was easy to understand. Having a handout made it easier to understand and follow along without having to stop to write everything down, and its great to keep in your camera bag for a quick reference.
This class is great value for money, I learned about the different settings on my camera and now have a clearer idea of when to use each setting. I was provided with constructive feedback throughout our practical session which gave me an understanding of ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed. Going down to Bondi Beach provided us with multiple subjects to shoot so I was able to practice a variety of shots.
