My wife and I took Rémy's wooden spoon carving class as an anniversary gift, after she had mentioned wanting to get into wood carving one day. From the moment we arrived, Rémy was incredibly welcomingMy wife and I took Rémy's wooden spoon carving class as an anniversary gift, after she had mentioned wanting to get into wood carving one day. From the moment we arrived, Rémy was incredibly welcoming and created such a relaxing atmosphere, sitting around the fire and enjoying tea while we carved. Rémy was a fantastic teacher, guiding us through each step with patience, encouragement, and a genuine passion for the craft. What really stood out was how he went above and beyond to help my wife get started with wood carving beyond the class, recommending books, tools, and other resources she could use on her journey. The four hours absolutely flew by, and I was amazed at how well our spoons turned out by the end. It was a fun, rewarding, and memorable experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in wood carving. You won't regret it! Thanks again Rémy. + more

Teacher went above and beyond to see we had a great time. Cannot recommend enough if you're thinking of attending. Great value for money - purchased as a birthday gift experience for two and was an amazing gift that we will get to enjoy for many years now. Cosy studio space was warm and comfy (and it was raining and freezing on the day). Genuinely surprised by how well the mosaic lamps turned out. You are making it and thinking 'i'm not sure how good this looks'. Finally, once you've grouted and cleaned and wiped and its dry, you get to see and enjoy the end result of your hard work; an amazing looking lamp that just blows you away. 10/10 class. Give it a go you won't be disapppointed. Thanks for the experience Artistic Vibes, we love our lamps!! + more

As someone who had no experience with the soap making process, the way that we were guided through the process was so supportive. She is so knowledgeable and loves to share that people. I love that the products used are all natural, and feel so great on the skin. I love to use them for ourselves and as gifts for friends and family. Would definitely recommend for all. + more
Father's Day Ideas Melbourne
The best Father’s Day gifts for Dads in Melbourne
Melbourne dads are all about culture, coffee and creativity—and luckily, the city is packed with experiences that celebrate exactly that. Instead of another pair of socks, why not give him a day to remember?
- For the food-loving dad: Melbourne’s culinary scene is legendary. Gift him a hands-on cooking class where he can master artisan bread baking, learn to craft authentic pasta, or explore vegan delights. Many classes even pair perfectly with a local wine tasting for a full sensory experience.
- For the creatively curious: From urban sketching in the laneways to pottery wheel workshops in Brunswick, Melbourne’s art classes offer endless ways for Dad to express himself. He might enjoy a mosaic workshop to piece together colourful tiles or a candle-making class to create personalised gifts.
- For the outdoorsy and active: How about a photography walk capturing Melbourne’s iconic street art and cityscapes? Or a woodworking workshop where he can craft custom furniture or décor that adds a personal touch to home.
- For the dad who loves to relax: Spoil him with a whisky tasting session at a boutique distillery or a coffee appreciation workshop to deepen his love of Melbourne’s café culture.
Whatever his passions, Melbourne’s local workshops offer Father’s Day gifts full of meaning, creativity and unforgettable memories.
How to spoil your dad on Father’s Day
Show Dad how much he means to you with a day tailored just for him. Here are some simple but thoughtful ways to make Father’s Day truly special:
- Kick off the morning with breakfast at a café he loves or a homemade brunch featuring his favourite foods.
- Book an experience that matches his hobbies—whether that’s a hands-on BBQ masterclass, a pottery session or a cocktail-making workshop you can enjoy together.
- Plan a relaxed afternoon with a tasting event, like craft beer or wine, where he can discover new flavours and unwind.
- End the day with a shared meal or a cosy gathering to share stories and laughs—sometimes, that’s the best gift of all.
The key is to combine fun, connection and a little surprise to show him he’s appreciated.
What to get for the Dad who wants nothing
If your dad insists he wants nothing, the best gift is often something that gives back—time, memories and a little creativity. Instead of material things, think about:
- Experiences he can enjoy at his own pace, like a photography class that lets him explore Melbourne’s streets or a terrarium class where he can flex his green thumb (or turn his brown thumb green!)
- Relaxing, low-pressure workshops such as candle making or painting, which encourage mindfulness and creativity.
- Gift vouchers for workshops or tastings so he can pick what suits him best when he’s ready.
These ideas focus on thoughtful, meaningful moments—perfect for the dad who’s hard to shop for but easy to spoil with quality time.
