Discover how to make delicious, sugar-free homemade jam at this demonstration cooking workshop in Petrie! Based on Valerie Pearson's book, Sugar-Free Home Preserving, this one and a half-hour session will cover the art and science of jam making.

Valerie will demonstrate how to make traditional jam and then will flip it on its head and show you how to make great jam without adding sugar. Safe preserving methods are also covered, ensuring that everyone walks away with the knowledge of how to make great tasting low or no sugar jams, and the ability to preserve them safely.

As you watch the demonstration, you will get to taste samples of the delicious jams and immerse yourself in the experience.

Making your own sugar free jams at home is a fabulous skill to have – to eat well, save money and create something you'd normally need to buy.

Please be aware that this is a demonstration based session. You will not be making the jam during this session but will be given all the knowledge to start making jams at home.

Valerie has been a home cheesemaker and rampant foodie for 25 years and has a passion for fresh, organic, homemade foods. Valerie’s daughter Angie was born with chemical sensitivity in 1988 and this changed their lives forever. After struggling with food labelling laws, Valerie armed herself with the knowledge and skills needed to take back control of her family’s diet! Valerie became a well informed and conscious home cook and cheese connoisseur and delved into the science behind fermented foods. Valerie published her first book, Home Cheese Making in Australia, in 2016 and is currently working on her second book, Sugar-Free Home Preserving.

Creativity is contagious, so express yourself learning new skills and enjoy exploring your inner creativity in a warm friendly environment where you can make something beautiful and meet and connect with other like-minded crafters. Being creative is beneficial to the mind, body and soul.

Mel Howe, busy mum and business owner of Sister 2 Sister Hair Salon the founder and creator of Workshop Sisters found it difficult to find crafty workshops on Brisbane’s Northside after trying to find workshops she could do with her son. This gave her the dream of creating that special place where mums, dads, sons and daughters could come together and bond while creating special memories by opening the back of the salon to the community for small businesses to conduct fun, crafty workshops.

Offering a wide range of fun and affordable workshops to suit our busy and time-poor lifestyles.

We have a very versatile space that can accommodate hens party’s, catch up crafternoons, baby showers and bridal showers. Bookings are essential for group parties.

Workshop Sisters outsources their workshops to various talented crafty collaborators. Proudly supporting small businesses.

Workshop Sisters are open to all kinds of workshops. We are always on the lookout to collaborate if you would like to share your talents.
