In this two-hour online class, you will be guided through the step-by-step process of making vegan Wagashi by your experienced teacher Kathryn. Wagashi are traditional Japanese sweets and are typically made from plant-based ingredients.

Before the class, you will receive some Nerikiri powder (100g) specially prepared by Kathryn using pure white beans. You will begin the class by making the dough and then learn how to colour it to create different tones and hues. Get creative and mould and roll your dough into three unique designs and shapes.

* P/S: As all wagashi’s Nerikiri dough has to be handmade with purity and specific making method, the wagashi dough will not withstand postal duration for hygiene and food safety reasons. Thus, all students are encouraged to follow the instructions in box and prepare their own Nerikiri dough at least a day in advance before class.

I really enjoyed this class and like how my desserts turned out. There were some logistical issues that made things more challenging though. I didn't realise there was pre-work for the class as nothing in the confirmation email suggested this, and I'd been saving the kit I got to open on the day of the class. Little did I know, I was supposed to have prepared two doughs the day before! I think it would really be helpful to have the red and white bean pastes included in the kit rather than having to make them myself. Otherwise, the class wear very enjoyable. Thank you!
