Crochet is great for stress, boredom and anxiety. All you need is a hook, yarn and know-how.
I can supply you with all three!
In this workshop, you will learn how to crochet and I will show you how to start a mobius scarf (infinity). We'll go through all of the basic crochet stitches and I'll be there to answer any questions you have along the way.
Once you know how to make a scarf - the possibilities are limitless.
I also have samples I can show you during the lesson.
A fibre artist, designer, teacher, and history nut, I am fascinated by all forms of colour and pattern in daily life as an expression of culture and identity.
I love teaching and sharing what I know, helping people to stretch their skills, create new experiences & explore their own creativity.
I firmly believe there is no such thing as a non-creative person.
Everyone has the potential to be creative.
It could be in cooking, gardening, interior design, writing or as in my case - FIBRE arts.
As a teacher with 30 years experience, I get a real buzz when a student who hasn't tried a specific craft before - not only masters it, but becomes excited by the ways they can use their new skill.
I started in Jewellery design when I was in my early 20's, then discovered that all the things I love to do (design, dye, draw, felt, paint, etc) could be used in the practice of 'Hand or Surface Embroidery'.
I taught the 'Foundation course' in Colour & Design at the International School of Colour & Design.
I am a published textile designer & also run week-long textile experiences in Tasmania every January.
I have exhibited many of my pieces in a variety of spaces & had one piece auctioned off to raise money for the Embroiderers Guild of NSW.
My influences come from various parts of history both ancient and modern, the natural world (especially birds & fish) & the written word.
I love to read.
I collect folktales & poetry.
These interests often show up in my work - in quotes or images inspired by what I've read.
I bring all of these experiences & interests to my teaching of Hand Embroidery & encourage students to explore the potential of this ancient art form.
The same can be said of my other design practices - wirework, up-cycling clothing & free form crochet + knitting.
I also teach spinning - I dye & spin my own yarn.
Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Beyond happy with my coaching tonight. So calm and patient. I'm so overjoyed. Have been trying for 6 months but tonight I was able to understand how to crochet. Can't wait to practice tomorrow.
Narda was a lovely and very patience teacher. She taught us the basic of crochet and gave us some great handout to take with us. Plus she provided a delicious afternoon tea. It was a fabulous experience. Thanks

Narda was very welcoming and accommodating. She individualised it and worked at the pace that was comfortable for my daughter. Zoe is happily working away practicing the skills she learnt.
My sister and I went to the beginner crochet class today, and we had such an amazing time! Narda explained it so well, and she was so patient with us too She was so kind to offer us tea, coffee or a hot chocolate, and gave us these yummy brownies to keep us motivated with our crocheting She is so easy to talk to and her place is so cosy as well We will definitely be booking the next class to further our crocheting skills!
Narda is a wonderful teacher and hostess. Our class was in her cozy home which was easy to get to by public transport. She had everything we needed for the class and I enjoyed trying on some of the crocheted jackets and hats that she had made, even dyeing the yarn herself. Narda is a woman of many talents and experiences. I finished the class with a pathetic example of crocheting, however I undid it on the train home and started again with Narda instruction in my head I was able to churn out a beautiful piece of crochet before the end of my 2 hour journey. Hoping to do another class with Narda in the not too distant future.

This was my first Class Bento experience. Narda was very accomodating as I had to reschedule my class booking 3 or 4 times due to a family matter. Her home was warm and inviting with a beautiful pet Bree. I was provided with all materials required and she even went through my things that I had brought with me to make sure they were suitable for crocheting. I had done a course before and didn't retain knowledge or feel comfortable. Yesterday I learn't a few basic things which I now know can make many many things. Narda is very knowledgable with all things wool which felt like I was in expert hands. Practice and position are 2 things I came away with and be Fearless! I hope to continue not only my crochet journey but other crafts too. I would throughly recommend a class with Narda

Great class, and Narda is a highly proficient and lovely teacher. Learning a skill like crochet in person makes a huge difference - it is much easier to learn face to face! I can highly recommend this course, and Narda as a teacher.

Narda provided the yarn, the crotchet hook, some printouts for the beginners class. She taught the basic stitches and introduced the many different things that can be made. She showed some of her work which was inspiring. She also served her handmade delicious chocolate brownie and a cup of tea. I wish we had spent more time practising the stitches.

Narda was fantastic. I really enjoyed the one on one session. I’ve previously tried to learn crochet using YouTube videos however wasn’t able to pick it up. It was so much easier having someone guide me and show me on my own hands where I was going wrong. I absolutely recommend a one on one with Narda. Thank you again Narda for having me in your home.

A most enjoyable morning spent learning crochet with Narda. She was very friendly, supportive and patient as I started my journey in learning this craft. And I was also treated to delicious cups of tea and freshly made brownie. I loved Narda’s cosy studio and seeing all the inspiration pieces she showed me of her own art. I left with some lovely yarn and instructions on how to continue on and look forward to becoming a lot more
proficient, knowing Narda is there to help if I need her

Great afternoon. After a 20year absence from crocheting I was getting frustrated with my mistakes, Narda really helped me understand and correct the errors I was making.
The chocolate cake was a delicious bonus.
Narda was enthusiastic teacher, had many past projects to show for inspiration. The two balls of wool provide were beautiful colours and so soft. A good introduction to crochet, with good instruction sheets to take home to continue on with the crocheting journey.
